It's been awhile since I uploaded any new images of the remodel work I've done on my home. Due to a couple of knee surgeries, and a couple of foot surgeries, got me thinking about ditching the tub.
I remodeled the upstairs bath room with the help of my friend Steve L (retired now) the master!. My jobs consisted mostly of demoing, mudding, refurbishing. He did all the heavy stuff, and master he is. I ended up pulling the tub, tiled the walls floor to ceiling and made a walk in shower with a stationary piece of glass 87" X 37" .
When I first did the bathroom in 2009 I had hoped to do the walk in then, but just ran out of time and energy.
The first project was the bathroom. These are before images. Kept the original toilet, sink and tub. Re- silvered the mirrors and re-plated the hardware. New legs (Ebay) and build in a 24" X 24" Metro rack in the linen closet behind the main door. Also, replace the fan with a new motor still available, and re worked the fan housing to it's original beauty.
Decided on going with a 2" hexagon for the main floor, 1" hexagon for the shower area. Small marble lip for the shower glass. Went with a 16" X 12" tile, wanted the appearance of concrete. Perhaps too masculine, but it's warm and I love how it worked out, just as I ad imagined. I did not want to not have any glass or lip, but needed just a little more space for that.
Tile has come... 900 lbs..
The walls were really out of square and took days for me to true up and get ready for the large tile. You can hide a lot with small tiles, but larger ones, the walls need to be square.
the master at it..... he's a perfectionist..
Is there ever enough coffee? No.. Get back to mudding those walls....safety first, don't forget your safety glasses.
more mud.....

My next project was the addition of a 18' X 16" X 14" credenza that runs
from the kitchen through to the dinning room, Virtual Design Build
built and installed the piece. My neighbor initial idea and also has
installed. I used to keep all my Le Creuset, my Mix Master and all the
things a 12' X 6.5' kitchen doesn't allow for down in the basement on a
metro rack. What a change from my last kitchen where I had plenty of
space, it really took some getting used to preparing food and moving
around, love the small space now.
Another project, kind of crazy but I redid the downstairs floor. Only
because, when I first purchased this unit, you couldn't get rolled
linoleum in the states, it was more than I had to spend to get it, I
settled for 12" x 12" Armstrong black linoleum. One day, I was walking
and saw someone rolling out rolled linoleum, guess what, you can get it
now in the states. He told me who to call, Royal Oak Flooring, all I had
to do was to completely strip the original linoleum floor I had
installed. No easy task! Four days working morning till night, I was
busted up after that, but the end result was worth all the effort.
The original 12" X 12" Linoleum floor below.
Finished floor installed (Living room_
The finished install of the marmoleum floor living room. Hard to maintain, found the shinier finish is the worst. I'm going to re-strip the floor, and apply a matte finish. I wish I had only washed with the phbalance, and not applied a finish when new. I'll get it back to the original, one day, on the list..
I do love the black marmoleum, in the right light, it's perfect for this space. It was always black, just saying.
